Sep 21 Shirley Price Limited Editions | Art is a Story Worth Telling

I was born in Saskatchewan, Canada. I relocated to California in 1964 and became a USA citizen in 1978. My artistic life path has taken many turns. I started knitting and selling baby booties and caps at the age of 10 and I was designing and sewing some of my own clothing age of 12. I have explored pottery, weaving, leatherwork, leaded glass, and watercolors.

I am a one woman show. I fabricate backs, bezels, links and spacers from fine silver flat stock by cutting and soldering, then stamping my initial "S" on the back. The fine silver is 99.9% pure, meaning less tarnish and no fire scale.

All of my designs express the visual and emotional relationship between artist and metal, thereby establishing the best possible marriage of the two. The resulting pieces radiate a smooth flow of color and energy. My work has a quiet, understated sophistication with bold innovative designs that command attention when viewed, dramatic when worn.

I fondly recall my artistically talented mother saying, "Art is a story worth telling." I found my heart's story when I discovered precious metalwork. Drawn to the quiet balance of the Asian culture and inspired by beautiful colored stones I love and pushing the boundaries with my silver. My pieces are handmade "to reflect a woman's innate individuality, beauty, and mystery." They are unique, bold & provocative, a pleasure to own and a joy to wear!
